VENSTERS (WINDOWS) – RESEARCH
These images form the starting point of my ongoing development project Vensters. During a long term photographic exploration of Dutch greenhouses, I became fascinated by weathered greenhouse windows, where lime, paint, foil, organic materials, light and time continuously interact.
Within my current research, I investigate how these surfaces can function as glass negatives, directly exposing light sensitive materials through the windows themselves. At the same time, I explore how existing photographic images can be transformed onto light sensitive materials such as canvas, paper and textile using historical processes including gum bichromate and cyanotype.
The research explores how photography can move beyond the traditional print and develop into a physical, layered image process in which material, light, time and chance actively contribute to the making of the work.
